In February 2005 I received a tracheostomy appliance to combat the effects
of respiratory failure due to Post Polio Syndrome. The one chosen for me
was the Portex Disposable Inter Cannula (DIC) size 7. There are a number
of brands and styles listed in medical supply catalogs, most I have not
heard of. It got me to wondering what are the guidelines for choosing brands
and types of trach tubes for patients. Are there web sites or periodicals
or books that discuss such things?
